SAMS is a forum in Scotland for the sharing of knowledge and expertise in the field of Museum and Gallery security and its current membership includes museums, galleries, historic houses, castles and a palace.
Approached by SAMS to help with sponsorship of the event, Brian Davidson, Sales Manager at Scottish Communications, arranged for a presentation to be given by Scottish Communications in conjunction with security equipment specialist, Norbain Ltd, on digital recording equipment.
Tony Duke from Norbain Ltd followed Brian’s brief introduction with a power point presentation on CCTV systems and the latest in digital recording equipment. The question and answer session that followed it was very successful, with delegates having numerous questions to ask of the experts who provided them with all the information they required.
Said SAMS chairman, Mike Arnott: “We contacted Scottish Communications as we have worked with them in the past and they have a growing reputation within Scotland for their products and services. The delegates were very impressed with the presentation and information they gained from Scottish Communications and Norbain.”
Scottish Communications also sponsored the SAMS hotline document, a security hotline for passing on information between members in the event of a theft at a property, causing a chain reaction of security intervention.
“The document is updated when necessary, keeping security personnel in neighbouring properties aware of any thefts in the vicinity, which they may otherwise not hear about. This is quite costly to SAMS and the sponsorship from Scottish Communications is very helpful,” commented Mr Arnott.
“We were very happy to help SAMS in their quest for improving security in Scotland’s museums and galleries and will continue our association with the organisation,” said Brian Davidson.
