The company’s Blackford headquarters in Perthshire boasts one of Europe’s most modern bottling plants, exporting Scotland’s favourite water to around 50 countries worldwide.
However, its picturesque location near Gleneagles meant that during the G8 summit last summer, the company was keen to enhance its security precautions, given widespread predictions that there could be trouble from demonstrators.
Highland Spring called in Scottish Communications for advice, and working to a tight timescale, the company installed a CCTV system to cover perimeter and storage areas that comprised a mixture of fixed and fully functional cameras linked into a digital recording system. A number of radios and a base station were also supplied.
Engineers form Scottish Communications worked closely with Highland Spring’s IT department as well as with other factory managers to ensure that the careful hygiene procedures practiced by the factory were not compromised during the installation.
In the event, there was great relief all round when no trouble was recorded during the Summit, and Highland Spring is also delighted that it now has a sophisticated surveillance system in place.
