Scottish Communications supporting role in new TV thriller

Scottish Communications, the Perth-based security equipment specialist, has hit the big time after it supplied CCTV monitoring equipment for use in the production of the major TV police thriller, Low Winter Sun.

The two-part Channel 4 thriller set in Edinburgh is a gripping account of two policemen based in a Grassmarket police station, where they struggle in a world of greed, murder and corruption.

Starring Mark Strong and Brian McCardie, Low Winter Sun tells the story of DS Frank Agnew and DC Joe Geddes who find themselves in the invidious position of investigating a murder that they committed.

Produced by Tiger Aspect Productions, CCTV plays a key role in bringing the key characters to account, and this is why the production team called in Scottish Communications to supply and offer their expert advice on the camera equipment used.

Scottish Communications supplied six cameras that were set up in the police interview room and morgue, which linked-back to a digital hard disk recorder in police control room, part of which was filmed being played back.

A Scottish Communications engineer was also on hand for trouble shooting and to make sure the equipment worked properly.

Paul Gibson, Scottish Communications Managing Director, said: “Low Winter Sun is a gritty drama that has already received critical acclaim. We are delighted that our expertise was called upon to help in its successful production.”

The first part of Low Winter Sun will be screened at 9pm on Channel 4 on September 13, following by the concluding part on September 14
