With the University requiring increased security both for personnel and the laboratory areas, Scottish Communication's design team worked closely on the design stage with John Gilchrist of the University and Peter Copeland, Director of Estates and Buildings who initiated the project, as well as the design engineers BDH Consultants.
Scottish Communications was naturally delighted to win the contract and has liaised closely with everyone involved throughout the entire evolution of the system. Scottish Communications was then contracted by electrical contractors DH Morris to install a CCTV system utilising the latest digital recording equipment to monitor the area.
“We were very impressed with Scottish Communications and the support package they offered was extremely comprehensive,” commented Mr Gilchrist.
The CCTV system continuously monitors all the principal corridors and access routes to the Medical School and Laboratory areas discreet mini dome cameras. A major feature of the installation is the ability to extend it easily to cover more areas when required.
Says Brian Davidson, Sales Manager of the security division at Scottish Communications: “The cameras are recorded onto hard disc to give each unit an extensive period of recording capability. Live pictures and recorded images can be accessed remotely by authorised personnel from PC or laptop.”
