Business growth for Scottish Communications results in name change

Perth based Scottish Communications Group has created the new trading name of SCS Security Design for the security arm of its business, thanks to buoyant growth in the hi-tech security surveillance market.

The group specialises in the supply of security and communication equipment to businesses, local authorities, and the police. However, business in the security surveillance market has grown to such an extent that it now forms the larger part of the Group

Therefore, in a move to better reflect the two core areas of the business, SCS Security Design has been created for the Security Division, and the two-way radio and other communication work will continue to trade under the Scottish Communications name.

According to managing director Paul Gibson, the move will help avoid customer confusion and provides direct recognition of the massive growth of the CCTV, access control and other security work carried out by the company.

“The security arm of the company has been tremendously successful and this seemed the right time to have two different trading names,” he said.

“An important reason for the move was that the name Scottish Communications didn’t really reflect our security work and this inevitably led to a degree of customer confusion.

“We have also developed a strong reputation for our expertise in the specialised hi-tech end of the market such as in the development of Internet Protocol (IP) systems into security surveillance.

“The new name provides better clarity and provides a fresh platform for growth over the coming years.”

Both divisions of the company will continue to operate from its headquarters at Arran Road, Perth.
