New CCTV system for leading shopping centre

Scottish Communications has upgraded the CCTV surveillance system at the prestigious St John’s Shopping Centre in Perth.

The existing recording system, which was installed by Scottish Communications nine years ago, was replaced with six state-of-the-art fully functional speed dome cameras, with the current video recording facility renewed with the latest digital technology, including a CD-writer for archiving material.

This will provide enhanced coverage of the external and internal areas of the shopping mall, including delivery and fire escape areas. The system will be continuously monitored by the centre’s own security staff, providing them with exclusive coverage of the Shopping Centre.

Siobhan McConnell, Centre Manager, said she was delighted with the performance of the system and that it fitted in well with St John’s participation in the Perth Anti Crime Exclusion (PACE) initiative for the local community.

“The system is working well and provides an extremely useful tool for us to look after the well-being of our customers,” she said.
