Swiss Software convicted terrorists in London

Thanks to video surveillance and to Swiss software it took only 5 days to identify the terrorist who was responsible for the bomb attack in London.

The four assassins met at 8:30 at King’s Cross Station in London where they were tracked by surveillance cameras mounted in several areas inside the train Station. Only 20 minutes later the first out of four bombs exploded. Scotland Yard scanned the video material which had a total recording time of 2400 days. After analyzing the footage the 4 assassins where identified thanks to the innovative video software made by FAST Video Security AG, based in Huenenberg, Switzerland. “I can ensure that our technology is installed and in use in the many areas around the King’s Cross Station. “Digital Video technology has helped to identify the 4 terrorists”, stated Beat Meier CEO of FAST Video Security AG.

FAST Video Security is a Manufacturer of Video recording Systems and Network Transmission Devices and is specialized in developing software for Object Tracking and Object recognition. This technology allows reviewing any tracked incident at anytime during recording operation. This was the Method used to identify Hasib Hussain (19) one of the 4 terrorist.

Investigators had found the identification papers of Hasib Hussain in the wreck of the bus exploded on the same day. We had a missing post from his mother. “We knew his name, what he was wearing and what he looked like”, mentioned Meier. With these details it was technically possible to search and find the person and his accomplice out of ten thousands of pictures. At the same time the investigators found out that Hasib Hussain was also spotted in the train station in Luton from where they proceeded to King’s Cross Station in London. FAST is operates in the UK and USA where the Software was also adjuvant in other several assassination investigations. The most spectacular was the 9/11 assassin Mohamed Atta. He was the one who steered one of the air crafts in the World Trade Center in New York on September 11th. 2001. The picture of Atta passing the border control became world famous – here the same technology was used to identify this person. The high-jacking in Stanstead is another Example where this technology was used. The Swiss Airport Unique also trusts and uses this technology. “Other than in UK Airports, Unique Airport is not wired in large surveillance areas. Although, this would be a huge help for investigators to identify and trace terrorists and other crime incidents”, said Meier. Anyway, although the 500000 installed cameras in London did not prevent from terrorist attack, it helped to identify them within 5 days.
