Personal Witness System

The MyWitness recorder is a tough, solid-state digital video recorder for mobile use. It uses the latest state-of-the-art video encoding hardware to record high quality video. It has no moving parts, allowing it to be used in the harshest of environments, and allowing the user to record video for use as evidence.

The Personal Witness system is a combination of:

• A purpose-built mobile digital video recorder
  
• Head or body mounted camera
  
• Recording management software

An internal rechargeable battery pack powers the recorder and camera for 12 – 14 hours continuous recording time. It allows prolonged surveillance with minimal user intervention, and can be deployed as a vehicle mounted recorder, or used covertly as well as overtly where permitted.

Body-mounted and Head-mounted cameras are available, and the system can be configured to record audio using the built-in microphone.

The body-mounted camera option uses a unique magnetic mount, allowing the user to easily adjust the camera orientation. It also allows the camera to be easily detached for breaks, or to be worn safely with seat-belts.

My Witness provides a comprehensive video archiving and indexing system that automatically uploads and stores the recorded video for later analysis; unlike consumer hardware, the system ensures that the recorded video can only be viewed by authorised personnel, and that there is an audit trail associated with any re-distributed recorded video.

The recorder manager software allows the units to be assigned to users with a single click, and data is automatically downloaded from units with no user intervention when the units are returned to base.

The downloaded data is automatically stored for a configurable amount of time after which the data can be deleted. This system can scale to support large numbers of users and cameras.

SCS Security Design recognizes that the prevention of unauthorised distribution of recordings is paramount to build and retain public confidence in personal surveillance systems.

Video segments can be written to standard format DVD for replay on consumer DVD players – for example, where evidence is submitted to court or to the police.

Recordings that are transferred to DVD are marked with details of the operator who recorded the video, when the video was recorded, and who created the DVD.
